April ?? 6392- April ?? 6392
With no apparent leads, outside of potentially Desh knowing something about all of this, they decided to flee the city, and first head to Aridia, to the north, hated by most Kasians.
What they found was a boring, hick town. No apparent conflicts, family fueds, or excessive crime that needed stopping. They managed to gain an audience with the captain of the Aridian Guard, Styles. Styles wanted none of thier information, claiming it was nothing that he didn't already know. He also wanted nothing of mere "Mercenaries"- he feels that they are agents of chaos, thriving in situations that rebel against the status quo- something that Aridia apparently holds in very high esteem. He would hire them as a more permanant "Special Force", but he apparent requires people of proven morality and alturism, and that would think for themselves. He suggested that they perhaps investigate the reason of thier expellation, rather then asking random countries to give them work.
With that, they headed West, to possibly investigate the true home of the Ankhegs- the temperate forests between Jal'Nareth and Uzinia. They traveled to Quanor the demilitarized zone betwen the two powers...and soon found the town in peril, in peril for the first time in years. Zombies from the Deadlands claimed Palatino had wandered far enough Northeast to reach Quanor- and were about to feast on it's citizens. In a burst of goodness, the party dispatched the zombies- and were rewarded- with the town mayor showing his gratitude with information about the local ankhegs.
Floyd, a large stocky human, who over the night's festivities you find out is a retired Jal Nareth Knight. He has set forth an offer to further show you his gratitude- he says he will personally show you to the local Ankheg colonies and aid you in your investigation- if you'll let him.
