King Jarret had fallen. So had his unexplainable wars against his neighbors, as any remaining troops were quickly messaged to return home to Gregorian. Although the leaders, however de facto they may be, completely understood the claims behind the conflict, the people do not. While by no means urging them to explode into another war, there is a sense of bitterness between Jal'Nareth and the formerly invaded. For the past 5 years, the Kingdom of Jal'Nareth has been without a monarch. Heading the countries affairs has been one Victar Derag, who has just strived to maintain peace through the status quo. Attempting to keep the various houses of Jal'Nareth happy, Derag has attempted to give them all a voice in the running of the kingdom. While high on the ascension list himself, Derag refuses to accept the title as he holds that another is the rightful heir. He refuses to name this phantom heir, which has led many of his critics to believe that he doesn't exist and has greatly increased mistrust of the middle 39-year old leader.
To the east lies Uzinia, which has accidentally assumed some form of Benevolent Dictatorship. The troublesome terms of the last 2 councilors Jack Niander and Sygnus Silverkin, and then the overtaking of Zagfey by an Assuew Cult Leader Mitchell Heaton had left the nation needing a strong arm to pull itself together. That arm was a former guard captain named Vincent Lambert. Lambert with the assistance of some annonymous travelers managed to flush out Heaton's cult and take Zagfey back for Zagfeyans. Lambert has unquestionably put his resources into restoring normalcy, and had called Uzinia's best thinkers to Zagfey to figure out what he should do next- upon his claims "I'm a guard, I don't want to run this nutball country!". Despite this move, many think that if he had any intentions of relinquishing power, he would have already. There have been various reports of rebel groups forming in Zarfmo and Assuew, with intents to overthrow what they claim is a brutal dictator just waiting to happen. Some of these groups have been flushed out by Lambert's guards, which has seen to hurt his image more than anything. Lambert claims his intentions are pure- "I can't get anything done if I have some army of my own people trying to decapitate me."
Kasios on the other hand, has had no problems with thier leadership. Edward Ralos, head of the Kasios Trade Unions, and effectively the leader of Kasios has continued to administrate the country into another economic boom. Ralos has expressed desire to increase Kasios's power, and territory, but much to the relief of thier neighbors, they say thier expansionist plans have no military threat behind them. Ralos has not made his contradictory statement very clear.
Likewise, the small desert Nation of Aridia has been doing very well for itself despite the sudden disappearance of it's Queen. They have reclaimed thier northern outpost of Freet and have expressed public desire to cross the Northern Badlands just to see what's around them. And see if they need to deploy another peacekeeping agent there- who will definitely not spy on them. Really.
Kilkralthen, however, has had nothing but trouble with thier neighbors to the north. They have established contact with the Duergar using some poor gnome with daggers falling out of him carrying a 2,000 year old Dwarven Language dictionary. The Duergar have refused relations completely unless they deliver the heads of the "Butchers of thier People"- but thier descriptions have been hard to translate using the old language. They apparently want an Iguana Man, a female midget holding a noodle, A pointy eared demon, a giant, and someone who strongly resembles Victar Derag's sister. Despite that being the most accurate description, the Morbirgan Council has unanimously agreed that beheading The Jal'Nareth Leader's sister is a public relations disaster waiting to happen.
Nothing in particular has happened in the forests. Random fires have occured around Illithan, but 5 years is a mere yawn to the Elven Lifespan.
In the middle of the Deadlands, the foundation has been laid for a a large building of some sort. With it's founders out and about, and being in such a horribly inconvinient location, construction might take decades. Especially with Zombies wandering up and attempting to chew on the timber...
